About
We strengthen lives and secure futures. In fulfilling our mission, the center facilitates a community atmosphere, identifies and responds to community needs, cooperates with individuals and other agencies to provide that help, promotes recreational and cultural events, and creates and coordinates meeting space, programs and information and services that reflect the community's ethnic and economic diversity.
Mission Statement
The Goodman Community Center (formerly the Atwood Community Center) recently celebrated our 60th year serving the community and our 5th anniversary in our beautiful location on Waubesa St.
The Goodman Community Center offers programming that includes: 4-year-old-kindergarten; out-of-school time programming for elementary, middle and high school students; and two high school innovation campuses for students struggling to complete high school. We serve more than 800 children and youth annually with more than 6,800 hours of programming. We also have programs that encourage parent and family engagement. Strengthening families is a critical component of creating secure futures for young people.
In addition to that, the Center has a comprehensive Older Adults Program that provides meals, exercise classes, and social activities that contribute to helping many maintain a healthy, independent lifestyle. Finally, the Fritz Food Pantry is open three times a week, offering a 3-day supply of groceries and a home-cooked meal to community members in need.
