About
Serving the NWI Community Since 1957
We are a mental health agency with a unique focus on early intervention and prevention, deeply rooted in home visiting programs and support services for parents and youth. In 2019, we expanded our footprint through the acquisition of our sister agency, Mental Health America of Porter County, fully onboarding their team and programming. This resulted in adding established programming for adults living with mental illness, as well. Our mission is to transform our community through proven programs that educate, empower, and strengthen the way individuals and families function for life. Our vision is that by removing barriers limiting a persons full potential, positive mental health and wellbeing are achieved.
Mission Statement
Our current menu of programming supports our vision of helping youth and adults achieve positive mental health. Each of our programs falls into one or more of six categories of support: Home Visiting, Group Support, School Programming, Adult Mental Health, Workplace Mental Health, and Maternal & Infant Health. The common thread tying all programs together is the shared vision of resilient individuals and families; happy, healthy children; and a foundation in evidence-based program and curriculum models. Our goal is to build protective factors that ensure overall well-being and family functioning. Protective Factors increase family strengths, enhance child development, and reduce the likelihood of abuse and neglect. Factors include parental resilience, knowledge of parenting and child development, social and emotional development of children, concrete support in times of need, and social connections.
