About this Opportunity
Ellis Early Learning strengthens Boston's diverse working families by providing quality and accessible education and care for children. Their goal is to help all children develop the necessary skills they need to achieve both academic and personal success. Ellis stands out for being one of the most diverse organizations serving the children of Boston. Volunteers will support teachers in a classroom during their lunch break and during the children’s sleep time. Volunteers will support teachers in a classroom by doing different activities, including:
- Playing with kids
- Helping with snack time
- Reading books to kids
- Chaperone with teachers for kids at the park
All volunteers need to be 16 years or older. In the classrooms, all adults are required to wear masks. If the volunteers want to help on a regular basis, the Early Education and Care Department (EEC) requires that they have to undergo a fingerprint check.
Please come dressed in comfortable and appropriate clothing for work with children and closed-toe shoes.
Prior to your first time volunteering, you will need to have a Zoom call with an Ellis team member.
If the volunteers want to help more than two times, the Early Education and Care Department (EEC) requires that they have to undergo a background and fingerprint check.
***Photos and videos of the children or the buildings are NOT allowed.***
MBTA Information: 5 minutes walk from Orange Line stop (Green Street) and bus 39 stop (Center St – Myrtle St)
At Boston Cares, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that guide our mission and work.
