Dogs Matter is a unique and innovative 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide the needed services and support to gain long-term sobriety and stability and provide a healthy and loving environment for their pet. Dogs Matter is the only non-profit agency in Texas offering free temporary foster care placement and aftercare support services specifically for pets of people with addictions receiving substance abuse treatment.
Dogs Matter has become a department of Dallas Pets Alive (DPA). With over 350 Volunteers on more than 10 teams, we have numerous opportunities for you to join our mission. We’re looking for a Donor Appreciation Coordinator to help us spread joy, one thank-you card at a time! In this role, you’ll be the cheerful voice behind our heartfelt notes, making sure every supporter feels truly seen and celebrated. If you love thoughtful writing, meaningful connections, and believe that appreciation is an art form, we’d love to hear from you!

Team: Dogs Matter
Location: Virtual from anywhere, understanding we are in the CST time zone
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week (with 4 times/year of up to 5 hours per week)
Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Works with: This role requires collaboration with the Dogs Matter Development Team and interaction with our donors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writing thoughtful thank-you notes in the form of an email or handwritten card, some within 24-48 hours of receiving a donation, others welcoming new donors, some to recurring donors
- Volunteer will be provided with the necessary supplies, message template, contact info, and situation for the email/card.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Ability to respond to donors within a 24–48-hour timeframe
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative, kind, thoughtful, and talent for writing
- Great penmanship for handwritten thank-you notes
- Access to postal service, ability to regularly send out thank-you notes using this method
- Must be reliable and responsive, willing to collaborate with teammates
- Experience as a volunteer and/or working with donors is a plus
- Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
- Must be at least 18 years of age
