About this Opportunity

Sew4Service is a community of service-minded, creative people who sew, quilt, crochet, and knit. We accept donations of supplies and equipment in order to upcycle fabric and yarn into handmade items, which are in turn donated to local charities. We teach people new skills to empower them to be confident creators and to touch the lives of people and pets in their community. We promote sustainable sewing through our upcycling, recycling and environmental impact programs.

We are seeking a board member for the nonprofit Sew4Service, located in Northeast Ohio.

We are seeking a Director of Community Outreach. This person will work with chapter coordinators for all of our locations, and help coordinate community events for all the locations. Currently, there are three store locations, Euclid OH, Lakewood OH, and Alliance OH.

We accept in-kind donations of fabric, yarn and sewing supplies. Some in-kind donations are sold in our retail stores to provide access to quality sewing supplies at thrift store prices. Some of these in-kind donations we use to make charity kits which volunteers use to make handmade items like quilts, placemats, pillowcases, tote bags and more. Finished Items are brought back to us and are then delivered to local agencies in need of handmade items.

We attend community events, present to groups, and plan events for our volunteers.

Duties will include:

  • Coordinate Attendance at Community Events
  • Build Outreach and Community Relationships
  • Coordinate Presentations
  • Plan Quilting and Stitching Retreats
  • Plan and Organize Large Workshops
  • Coordinate Volunteer Creators Club Events
