About this Opportunity
The Legacy Center for Community Success believes everyone deserves a chance to succeed. Our programs help learners develop specific skills and build individual confidence. We foster a love of learning and community relationships based on grit, enthusiasm, and perseverance.
The Barton Dyslexia program serves people from first grade to adult. Learners must be reading below the 30th percentile to qualify for tutoring. We offer high-quality, one-on-one tutoring in two one-hour sessions per week, year-round. Any learner who qualifies for our program is accepted, regardless of their ability to pay for services. We gather baseline data both internally and externally to measure the impact of tutoring. When a learner reaches the 40th percentile, we celebrate, and the learner graduates from our program.
Volunteer tutors meet with one learner for two hours a week. Twelve hours of training and all materials are provided. Volunteers must complete a background check. A one-year commitment is preferred. Training and tutoring take place in person or online depending on individual preference and schedule.
