About this Opportunity

Please help us keep our native trout streams pristine. Looking for individual or group volunteers to keep the Cherry, Cranberry and Williams rivers beautiful by helping to clean up litter, trash, tires, large appliances and other debris within the river corridor and/or its tributaries. Volunteer(s) will pick up, bag, and pile all litter, trash, and debris at designated sites to be hauled off by forest personnel. Tires and large appliances will be removed and piled separately for disposal.

Must be able to work outside in differing weather conditions and in rugged and uneven terrain. Volunteer(s) will bend over to pick up trash and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds. Gloves, tools and any safety equipment will be provided to the volunteer(s) while working. Transportation to the work site will be provided by the volunteer(s), not the forest. Proper footwear (boots, river or tennis shoes) must be worn at all times.

Non-local individuals/groups wishing to volunteer may be provided with free overnight/weekend camping with prior arrangements.

Also seeking local groups to adopt a corridor to patrol and clean twice annually; early summer and fall.
